The MAPU line is inspired by the erosion of stone, distinguished by its seemingly random curves that evoke the shape of a stone worn by time.
Its name, which means 'earth' in the Comechingon language of the ancient inhabitants of the mountains of San Luis and Córdoba, Argentina, reflects their ability to sculpt the stone. It is the only one in the collection that offers a rough texture to the touch.
Córdoba, Argentina. By Ignacio Martínez Todeschini.
"Some years ago, while hiking through the mountains of Córdoba, Argentina, I was intrigued by several pits carved into the stone. Unaware of their origin, I presumed they were formed by natural forces. Months later, I discovered that these were 'mortars,' meticulously carved by the Comechingones tribe thousands of years ago.
The fusion of ancient wisdom and bountiful nature is a distinctive feature of our land that, in my belief, is challenging to encounter elsewhere in the world." - Ignacio Martínez Todeschini
